Brewing the perfect cup of tea is part ritual, part art — and it makes all the difference. At The Elm Cabinet, we believe that honoring the herbs with the right preparation allows their magic and benefits to truly shine. Here's everything you need to know to steep with intention and brew.

• Use Fresh, Filtered Water
  Great tea starts with clean, fresh water. Avoid distilled or heavily chlorinated water for the best flavor.
   
• Measure Your Tea
  Use 1–2 teaspoons of dried loose-leaf tea (or 1 tea bag) per 8 oz cup. Stronger blends may need less; delicate blends, a bit more.
   
• Heat Your Water to the Right Temperature
  Each type of tea requires a different brewing temperature to bring out its best flavor and benefits:
   

  Tea Type Water Temp Steep Time 

    Herbal / Botanical 200°F – 212°F 5–10 minutes

   Green Tea 160°F – 180°F 2–3 minutes

   White Tea 160°F – 180°F 3–5 minutes

   Oolong Tea 180°F – 200°F 3–5 minutes

   Black Tea 200°F – 212°F 3–5 minutes

   Pu-erh Tea 200°F – 212°F 3–6 minutes

🌡 Tip: Don’t have a thermometer? Let boiling water cool:

• 30 seconds = ~200°F
   
• 1 minute = ~190°F
   
• 2 minutes = ~180°F
   
• Cover While Steeping
  Keep the steam and essential oils from escaping. This helps extract full flavor and medicinal benefits.
   
• Strain and Enjoy
  Once your tea is done steeping, strain the herbs or remove the bag. Add honey, lemon, or milk if desired, and sip mindfully.
